If you feel the call of God to ministry or missionary endeavors with the American Baptist Churches, USA and you are an active member of a West Virginia Baptist Convention church, you may qualify for a scholarship.
Scholarships/loans are granted for:
- Four (4) years of undergraduate work or equivalent
- Three (3) years of seminary or its equivalent
In partnership with Palmer Theological Seminary WV Campus at Parchment Valley, students receive a scholarship applied to each class through completion of the program - Doctoral work (set amount across all programs)
Applicants should submit the online form and provide:
- two (2) recommendations from ordained West Virginia Baptist ministers
- one (1) recommendation from West Virginia Baptist Convention Minister
- one (1) letter from the clerk of the church where your membership is held affirming your call to ministry and membership
Recipients will be required to maintain passing grades, with their progress reviewed each year or more often as needed, and will be required to reapply each year to confirm they wish to continue to take advantage of the scholarship.
Scholarship monies are granted directly to the educational institution in which the recipient attends.
Scholarships will be given with the requirement that the recipient will work in West Virginia (or on a mission field of the Convention’s denomination) for every year that a scholarship has been given for a particular recipient.
If a recipient decides to serve outside the state (or outside mission fields of the Convention’s denomination) before the required employment period has ended, the recipient will be asked to pay back one year of the scholarship for every year in which they did not work within West Virginia (or a mission of the Convention’s denomination), without interest in increments agreed upon by the student and Executive Director.
